Smoke City Margarita

This irresistible cocktail begins with the rich, smoky notes of Granada Spanish chipotle hot sauce infused with the sweetness of dark cherries. Combined with premium tequila, orange juice and bubbly tonic make this marg, anything but ordinary.


  • 2oz Añejo Tequilla
  • 1/2 oz Grand Marnier
  • 2oz Chipotle Cherry Syrup (See Below)
  • 1-1.5oz Orange Juice
  • Tonic to taste (2oz)
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Cinnamon
  • Combine to rim cocktail glasses


Step 1

Cherry Chipotle Syrup: Combine 10 oz frozen pitted dark cherries, 4 tablespoons of Granada chipotle hot sauce, 1 cup brown sugar, and 1 cup water. Bring all ingredients to a soft boil, mash dark cherries in the liquid-extracting the juice, remove from heat and then strain. Let syrup cool to room temperature. Refrigerate for up to 2 weeks.

Step 2

Rim: Combine 1 cup Brown Sugar and 1/2 cup Cinnamon to rim cocktail glasses

Step 3

Serve: Rim deep margarita glass with cinnamon sugar.  Fill margarita glass 1/2 with Ice in a shaker with ice combine tequila, Grand Marnier, Cherry-Chipotle Simple Syrup, OJ. Shake thoroughly. Pour over ice, top w tonic & serve with orange wheel garnish.
